Are MMA fighters "jacks of all trades, but masters of none?"?

before i continue, i'm a long time practitioner of boxing as well as martial arts. i will certainly hear from mma guys who will say i don't know what i'm talking about, but frankly, i'm getting bored with the lack of excellence i see in mma. there are not any real great kickers, strikers or boxers in the sport. even chuck liddell at his best threw wide, looping punches that any good boxer must have salivated over. i like george st pierre, but i will never get that first fight with matt serra out of my mind, and the fact that he admitted he lost to hughes in the first fight because he was in "awe". there are some pretty good grapplers and ju jitsu guys out there, but remember, anderson silva, despite his recent dominance, has 4 losses, and miguel angel torres, who was calling out floyd mayweather, got ktfo'd by someone named brian bowles, who i doubt would strike fear into any top boxer. and lyoto machida just got a "gift" decision that was one of the worst i've ever seen in any combat sport. once in a while, i will see a beautiful submission or kick knockout, but too often i see sloppy boxing, sloppy wrestling and sloppy ju jitsu.
